Description
One-of-a-kind Vintage Match Boxes from The Champagne Room of the El Morocco Hotel, the famous celebrity hangout (Chaplin, Gable, Dietrich, Garbo, Sinatra, etc.) in New York from the 1930s through 1980s.
The match boxes were obtained while the space at 309 E 54th St was being renovated as an upscale strip club called “Thee Doll House” by Peter Stringfellow in 1992. All matchboxes are unused. These unique round boxes with striking area on the bottom (see photo) and "The Champagne Room" rendered in red script are made in Italy. They may be the only ones in the world, as I haven't seen any online.
