    25,000 of the coins were issued in uncirculated grade, and only 1,500 in full proof finish with etched (frosted) relief.

    The reverse has Western Samoa coat of arms with a cross at the top with "

    The cover's graphic design has the two islands of Western Samoa with Latitude of 14 degrees South and Longitude 171 degrees West.
    The dollar is encased in a graphic Treasure Chest representing "Treasure Island".

    A relic of the days when registered mail had to be tied with tape and the knots sealed with wax, crossed blue lines are now used for identifications of packages of value.
    All "Nu" covers have these lines, termed by Nuphil, for brevity, as "Reg. grid".
    The back of the PNCover has a Western Samoa 10c Stamp cancelled on December 3, 1969, APIA, Western Samoa .

    Also included is two descriptive brochures.
    The first brochure has a picture of two PNC Cover Nu31 & Nu32.
    It states, "WESTERN SAMOA HONOURS R.L.S.
    On Mt Vaca, overlooking the town of Apia, the coral reefs and the blue Pacific stretching north to the Aleutians, is the grave of Robert Louis Stevenson, poet and beloved writer of many romances including Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Weir of Hermiston.
    Western Samoa marked his death in 1894, at the age of 44, by dedicating the year 1969 to Stevenson's memory.
    A set of four postages stamps, portraying the books named above, was issued in April, and on December 3, the 75th anniversary of his death, a one Tala (dollar) commemorative coin was officially released.
    25,000 of the coins were issued in uncirculated grade, and only 1,500 in full proof finish with etched (frosted) relief.
    These were sold out immediately, but NUPHIL had been in close touch for almost two years, and Varian, on his third visit to Apia, was able to post COIN-COVERS containing 650 of the uncirculated coins and 65 of the proof specimens by registered mail on the significant date.”
