    This is an very attractive specimen.
    Very distinct suture pattern all the way around.
    Only small bits of external shell remains.
    It's hefty and solid and not particularly fragile.
    This specimen can be handled and examined.
    It would be a good study specimen.

    This baculite measures approximately 2-1/4" x 1-1/4" x up to 3/4" thick.
    Weight - about 80 grams.

    Baculites is an extinct genus of cephalopods with a nearly straight shell, included in the heteromorph ammonites. The genus, which lived worldwide throughout most of the Late Cretaceous, was named by Lamarck in 1799.
