"We all know that lab blocks should be fed as your rats basic diet, but what is more annoying at cage cleaning time than to have to throw out numerous uneaten blocks that have been spilled from the food bowl and end up contaminated with urine and feces? NOTHING! Money is tight for most of us these days, and high quality lab blocks are not cheap.
The solution to this problem is to purchase and hang one of these fabulous feeder baskets in your cage and fill it with lab blocks. The 1/2 x 1 inch wire allows the rat to use its incisors to bite off a chunk large enough to satisfy him for the moment, or to work out one block at a time, thereby keeping the food off of the floor of the cage where it gets contaminated, saving YOU lots of money in the long run.
Each one has solid sheet metal on the top and back limiting access to the bottom, front, and sides only, which stops the rats from urinating into the feeder on the food while sitting on top. They are also powder-coated for easy cleaning and come in two different styles to accommodate either aquariums or wire cages.
Topping off the baskets regularly ensures that your rat will never be without nutritional food, but always be sure to feed fresh foods, especially fruits and vegetables, along with the blocks."
