This is an very attractive specimen.
Beautiful and intricate suture pattern.
Fully polished both sides, almost no external shell remains.
It's hefty and solid and not at all fragile. It can be safely handled and examined.

This baculite measures approximately 4-1/2" x 2" x up to 1-1/2" thick.
Weight - about 403 grams.

Baculites is an extinct genus of cephalopods with a nearly straight shell, included in the heteromorph ammonites. The genus, which lived worldwide throughout most of the Late Cretaceous, was named by Lamarck in 1799.
